My background is investments. That’s my day job. That’s my education. So if you need some writing regarding that, I’m your man. As an editor of mine told me once, I can take boring business speak and make it interesting. I like to think I can understand the complex but write the complex understandably.
I’m not just a business writer. Like I said, that’s my day job and writing is at some level a hobby. Actually, it started out that way. I wrote letters to the editor and got a kick out of seeing my name in print. Then an editor asked me to write for him and I got a kick out of getting a little check. It was a hobby at first - in my business life (I joke) guys in my position either drink, chase women, or golf. I don’t really do any of those - ok, a little of the first - so I write.
But once I started working with editors, I was stunned at how impressed they were with someone who actually met a deadline. I didn’t think I had a choice, other writers apparently do. I mean, it’s called a DEADline, not a COMAline or LET’S-TAKE-A-NAPline.
These editors were also impressed when I wasn’t a jerk. “You’re easy to work with,” they kept saying. I didn’t ask how a writer could be hard to work with. A lack of punctuation maybe? Printing of zebra striped paper?
Whatever, I’ll go with it.
And I’m a affordable - not cheap mind you….affordable. I know what it’s like to be the guy who pays the bills. I respect that. I don’t waste time. I don’t waste money.
I have a wife and two kids and too many pets in a little house in a small town across a big river from a big city.
