Here’s my Yelp review of Herb and Thelma’s:
You have to be brave.
Herb and Thelma’s isn’t the most welcoming from the outside. The building is old, the neighborhood may look iffy to out-of-towners, but if you have the courage to hop off I-75 turn right on Pike, drive up a hill, and step onto their well worn stoop, you’ll be in one of the friendliest places you’ve been too.
It’s a small place. When my family and I walked in, everyone (who looked like they’d been coming for 40 years) gave us a friendly nod. The bar keep asked “what’ll you have”. We said, burgers.
While we waited, he flirted and goofed with my 9-year old. Everyone relaxed. A guy at the bar turned and struck up a conversation with us.
This is an old school, friendly, neighborhood place.
The burgers are nothing fancy, but well made on a griddle, served on paper plates and prices haven’t changed since Bench was behind the plate.
